4.5 out of 5 stars. I received this through the Goodreads Giveaways! I read it all in one day and I thought it was really good. The series has a good arc developing with the sisters, the witch hunters, and the witch hunter hunters. I hoped we'd see the sisters interact but no luck yet. I have a theory that June might be the third. ;) ;) I don't know, maybe not. This was a paranormal mystery with a little romance on the side that didn't over power the story line. I loved her interactions with the ghosts. My favorite was when she mentioned that she tried to work at the haunted restaurant but once they knew she could communicate with them, they would not leave her alone. haha That could be a whole book by itself. I don't really have any complaints but I just can't give it the full five stars. I'd say four and a half. I think there was a lot more that could've been done in this book. Maybe it was just too simple for me. I really liked it though! I do worry that book 2 will be just like the first only with the second sister. I see it came out last month, so I'll have to check it out! Photo courtesy of https://www.goodreads.com/book/photo/22929489-in-the-air-tonight 5 million out of 5 stars. My favorite one is the first. The sense of nostalgia that comes over me when I read this first book is like coming home after being gone for years. I re-read the published books each time a new book was released. I may or may not have gone to an opening or two. I investigated spoilers. I cried. I laughed. I've spent hours geeking out over online HP fandom theories and real canon. It truly amazes me how much detail is in this series. You can go through this first book and underline sentence after sentence of foreshadowing that you never knew was a clue until you finished the final chapters. It never ceases to entertain and provoke an emotional response. This is only the second time I have read Deathly Hallows and the conclusion was just as powerful as the first time I read it. Sworn to Raise currently has a 3.42 average on Goodreads and Sworn to Transfer has a 3.73. That's a little low but I think there is so much good behind the poor execution. I'm writing this review months after I read it so maybe my view is a little rose colored but the stars were awarded at the time I finished. I remember really liking the story. I really liked some of the characters. I really like the background and the events that happened. There were just a lot of small things that bothered me. They might be petty but they do add up. I would be interested in reading further, and I do have the third book already, I just haven't gotten to it. My mother also died of cancer and it is still horrifying to me. I couldn't continue reading after the horse scene. The writing quality was also lower than what I expected for a top seller.
